My Mom and Dad knew your family you mentioned, along with Pauline. They were Cona and Mae Steely from Elk Creek also. They are gone also but I remember my Dad use to tell us some nice stories of your family when they ran the Elk Creek Store. Thanks for posting this and sharing with us. It reminds me of my parents talking about the good days back then.
Beautiful picture of Pauline, Paul and Edna.

Paul knew my Mom and Dad, from Elk Creek also.
I knew both your Mom & Dad and I have several old pictures of
Elk Creek. Most of the pictures are taken around Steely Chapel which is named for your family. The Steely's were one of the founding families at Elk Creek, like my family the Grishams, the Steely's had a government land grant during the 1850's and they established the church on the hill. Also the cemetary next to the church was the site of many family and Elk Creek reunions. It also was the place where the "home brew" was shared during Prohibition. I think it is important to remember the past and the people who brought us into this world and built Elk Creek and Cabool.
Oh Wow! It is neat talking to you since you knew my family and yes, the Steelys were one of the founding families of Elk Creek. Dr. Steely was the area doctor that donated the property for a church and was the first person buried there in the cemetary. He was my great grandpa. My family and your family go way back together. Some of the things you mentioned, I had not heard of so it is great to hear more things from someone else. Thank you for sharing. The church was designated as a historical landmark while my Mom and Dad were alive. I am glad my Dad got to see it happen. That meant a great deal to him.
Your family was also one of the founding families of Elk Creek too. They ran the businesses there.
