After HS, I headed to Rolla, graduating with an engineering degree. Life in the green of St. Pat's fraternity world Rolla was mighty fun, but I didn't feel the call to ride an engineering desk out of school. So I signed up with Uncle Sam, taking a plunge seaward, and spent the next five years as a nuclear submarine officer in the Navy.
I met my wife, Holmes, while I was stationed in Charleston, SC. We've been married 15 years now. Our boys, Andrew (7) and Graham (4) are a delightful pair. But they sure have eliminated any possibility of hobbies other than work.
After the Navy, I spent a few years working in manufacturing, making optical fiber for Corning. I spent plenty more time in school, too, picking up a masters in nuclear engineering, earning a professional engineering license, and completing half an MS in electrical engineering before going back full time for a business degree in Boston. Enough with education!
I caught the entrepreneurial bug after the MBA, and have spent the last decade in a series of entrepreneurial ventures, split between firms backed by investors and a company I purchased in North Carolina with a partner.
I am now a marketing exec with a startup company making green building products in North Jersey, the fourth time I've worked for Silicon Valley investment firms. We will be sadly moving from here in Charlotte, which we love, to to the New York City suburbs this summer. Jersey will be my thirteenth state of residence since college. One upside - I guess I can hope to find an out-of-work Wall Street investment banker willing to sell me their house for cheap!
Hey Aaron, hows it going? So glad to see you on here, I saw you on facebook this weekend and wondered if you would be on here soon. I have been staying busy, inspecting bridge decks for the state of Montana. Have been living up here for @ 15 years now and really like it. What have you been up to?
Stranger what have you been up to. Last I had jeard you were driving subs in the navy. Our old buddy Blake made it through sub school and then couldn't handle the depth test and had to serve his time on a target.
Post some pics when you the time and tell everybody hi!
Aaron: You look great, your Dad would always keep me up to speed on what you were doing. I always wanted to talk to you about your Navy experiences. I hope you will drop me a line sometime. Take care RB
Aaron, I'm so glad you joined. I'm working on getting a contact list of 85er's together for our 25th. E-mail me your contact information to jesiblue5@aol.com
I didn't know you were in the Navy. Go Navy!!
Aaron, So sorry to hear of your Mom passing. That's so sad. I lost my Dad several years ago now and I can honestly say that's been one of the toughtest things I've dealt with. I love the pictures of your family. They are beautiful!!! Enjoy, they grow up so very quickly. I too, think a class reunion would be a blast. Take care and stay in touch.
sounds about right; always up to no good in my youth! Great looking boys and a beautiful wife. Looks like you won the lottery. Good luck in your next move to NY.
