Dewey Vernon Claiborne, of Jefferson City, died Thursday, September 23, 2010. D.V. served as a pilot in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II.
He traveled the state of Missouri representing Batesville Casket Company, made many life long friends, earned the respect of his peers and retired after his commitment of 50 years.
D.V. is survived by his wife Martha Ann Claiborne of Jefferson City, Missouri; daughter, Deborah Ann Claiborne and son-in-law, Allan Slavsky of Dallas, Texas; and his brother, William A. Claiborne of Bartlett, Tennessee.
Visitation will be at the First Presbyterian Church from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 28, 2010, followed at 11:00 a.m. by a memorial service. Private interment will be conducted at Riverview Cemetery. His special interests included his church, First Presbyterian Church and local animal welfare organizations, the Callaway Hills Animal Shelter, the Heart of Missouri Humane Society, and Safe Harbor Animal Shelter.
