About Me:
Well first of all, my last name really is Smith, even though I went all through school as Hicks. (You wouldn't believe the number of times I've had old friends vs new friends argue this subject! LOL)
As some of you know, just before my senior year I found out that my mom had been married before, and my legal name was Smith. Therefore, I still answer to either name..LOL.

Back in high school, I was dating Glendela (Henry), and when her family moved to Mtn Grove at the beginning of my senior year, I went with her. We've now been married for 21 years last March. She's been absolutely perfect and by far better than I ever deserved! Our oldest son (Tim) is 20 and is working full time while attending Drury University. Our youngest son (Ryan) just graduated this year, got married June 21st 2008, and is heading off to MSU in Springfield with his new wife this fall. Our daughter (Shyla) will be a sophmore at Cabool this year. They're all three very good athletes and we're extremely proud of them.

Glendela and I have spent our lives raising our children and being active in their busy schedules. Now I'm beginning to experience the early stages of empty nest syndrome! LOL. Thankfully my oldest son (Tim) will be giving us our first grandchild in December. We are excited!

I thank God every day for my family!

UPDATE:

Our first grandbaby arrived December 14th 2008. Her name is Adilee Lynn Smith, and she is absolutely perfect! Glendela and I are so excited to be grand-parents! I actually think Adilee is already trying to say PaPa! LOL.

That is funny you had to tell about your name, b/c sometimes I still will refer to you as Tom Hicks. Took a while for me to remember to keep it straight! Would love to see some more pics of the wedding on here! Are you ready for volleyball to start? I sure am. Football will be fun this year too as Nolan starts his first year (7th grade). You will have to come watch my future star :0)

Tom,
You and Glendela have a beautiful family. I truly enjoyed watching Ryan play footbal and it was a thrill every game all the way through. I know people got tired of hearing me talk about him and were even asking if he was related. Well having been a Bulldog all my life and then returning to the Campus to work I followed the teams and kids all the way. I am so proud of all of them. Even when we were away from here from 87-96 we would come back for Friday night footbal, until our oldest son got to be a HS player. I liked the fact that his Jr. High games were on Monday or Thursday so we could still come. He really wanted to be a Bulldog, but the jobs took us away and we moved back just after he graduated. The youngest son was a Golfer and played basketball. Our daughter played basketball and "baseball" (not softball) she started playing baseball when she was in little league and she and her best friend both played with the guys. In fact their freshman year when the guys thought that the girls were not going to be allowed to play protested so loudly that there was not battle. In fact all through little league their team was undefeated with Dani pitching and Jennifer catching.
Glad you are on here with the rest of us Bulldogs!

Yea, they might not let you do that. So, you'll just have to do like me, adopt them all as your kids and enjoy watching them. I have kids from six different schools that I have followed over the years therought their JR, High School, and then adulthood to enjoy their sports. i5t is really strange to now see some former students children playing ball and thinking, gee I am getting old!!! But, you know what they say,"You are only as old as you feel."

Tom, I have the perfect cure for the possible empty nest syndrome! Right now I have four extra kids, the baby and her brother, D.J should be adopted by fall, and I have for the first time, two teenage (13 and 14) boys in my house! They are sure a different crew then girls! Nicole is off to MSU and so is her boyfriend Nathan, we are hearing possible wedding bells next spring... Steph is headed for high school.

Great pics. Tom. Tell your wife I hate the way she still looks like she's 16. What's her secret? I think it's too late for me. Anyway, at least your not Tom Collins who will have to pay for 3 girls weddings. You only have one daughter. I think we better start saving now and pray they don't get married for another 10 years or more. Talk to you soon.
