Wednesday we went to Columbia to see my bariatrician and to attend my third LAW class. I missed the one in December because of bad weather. Don't worry, though, I've asked for the homework they had for December to be sent to me so I won't be behind. My doctor prescribed me phentermine because I only lost three and a half pounds in two months. (Christmas was bad and I had gained 5 pounds over the holidays.) Phentermine is a drug that takes away your hunger and promotes energy. I hope it does the job because I sure can't stay on Isagenix for the rest of my life.
I had to call an ambulance for Mom a couple of weeks ago. At six o'clock I called her to see how she was doing and it took her forever to get to the phone and when she did get on the phone all she would say is a slurred 3-9-4. She still doesn't know what those numbers mean. It scared me and I went up there. It was obvious that she was in a low. She is a Type 1 diabetic. I called the ambulance and while waiting for them I had to keep picking up her arm to keep her awake. She didn't know who I was or who she was. When they got here, they gave her some glucose, I fixed her something to eat, she refused to go to the hospital, and they left after making sure she ate something. She said the last thing she remembered was Jeopardy! getting over with at 5:30 pm. So she lost 30 minutes. I call her more frequently now just to check up on her.
The ladies at my church are going on a Christian women's retreat in Branson April 3-5 this year. Mom and I are waiting to see if we qualify for a scholarship to see if we can go or not. We've never been to one before but by what the notice says, it sounds like a whole lot of fun. We'll know by mid-February if we get the scholarship and be able to go to the Women's Retreat or not.
Then on April 11, my church is having a talent show. I'm thinking on entering one of my poems if I can find someone to read it for me. I'm too much of a chicken (yeah, cluck, cluck, cluck) to do it myself and Mom has already told me she won't do it. I might just have to buckle down and find some courage and do it myself if I can't find someone to read a poem for me.
We found a car. It's a '93 Buick Century. It used to belong to one of the church ladies who decided to hang up her keys. A wise decision as she couldn't turn her head or back to check to see if anyone was coming. Her son kept the vehicle in good shape so it's sound. The only thing Mom doesn't like about it is there is no cruise control. She misses her cruise control.
Nancy L, the wife of the son of the lady we bought the car from read my poem at the Christmas program. It turned out I wrote 4 or 5 poems and I let her choose. She chose one to read to the congregation and one to put in the gift boxes for the needy.
Well, I had better let you go. Take care of yourselves, okay? Have a blessed day! May God Bless You!
